Description
The Unit Manager (UM) is a licensed Life Insurance Agent who has demonstrated strong personal production and leadership capabilities. This role is designed for agents who are ready to grow beyond individual sales and lead a team of high-performing insurance professionals.
As a Unit Manager, you will operate as a player-coach—maintaining your own production while recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing a team of 5 to 15 actively producing agents. You will play a key role in driving unit growth, accountability, and overall agency success.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, and develop licensed Life Insurance Agents within your unit
- Build and maintain a team of 5–15 actively producing agents
- Conduct weekly team meetings, coaching sessions, and accountability reviews
- Mentor agents on sales strategies, client communication, product knowledge, and compliance requirements
- Monitor daily and weekly production metrics across your team
- Assist agents in achieving their personal production goals
- Maintain your own active book of business and personal production standards
- Support agent retention and foster a positive team culture
- Collaborate with agency leadership to achieve growth objectives and production targets
- Ensure all team members maintain required licensing, certifications, and continuing education requirements
- Provide regular production updates and reports to agency leadership
Qualifications
- Active Life Insurance License in good standing
- Minimum 6 months of proven production history with the agency or equivalent industry experience
- Demonstrated average personal monthly production of $5,000 or more
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Ability to recruit, train, and motivate insurance agents
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset
- No active compliance violations or carrier terminations
- Reliable internet connection and professional remote work environment
- Previous experience leading or mentoring insurance agents
- Experience building and managing remote sales teams
- Familiarity with CRM systems, lead management platforms, and insurance sales technology
- Proven track record of recruiting and retaining successful agents
